Now, go on, leap into the world of Pokémon!

The most amazing thing happened to me today. I met Prof. Rowan; I got my very own Pokémon, and started my life anew as a Pokémon trainer and collector, but that's getting a little ahead of myself. Perhaps I should start from the beginning.

My name is Motaku, and I reside in Twinleaf Town. We're a very small community just to the west of Sandgem Town in the Sinnoh Region. I live there with my mother. My rival, Tariun, also hails from Twinleaf, but we'll get to him in a moment.

This morning started off like any other, I was watching the Jubilife TV during breakfast. It was a program called "Let's Ask Prof. Rowan", the world famous Pokeologist. OK, I don't know if that is a word, but it should be! Out of nowhere, Tariun burst into my room chattering on about going to see Prof. Rowan so he can give us Pokémon. Apparently he had been watching Jubilife TV as well. I decide to tag along because, quite frankly, I think he's too scatterbrained to make it there on his own. He tells me to meet him outside, and then runs off. Mom said he ran out of the house in a hurry.

I stopped by his house later, and he almost mowed me down running out the door. Then he turned around mumbling about something he forgot and then runs back upstairs. I tried to follow him, but as soon as I got up to his room, he bolted again. After a quick chat with his mom, I found out he was headed to Route 201. Mom had warned me about that area. There is a lot of tall grass in that area and wild Pokémon tend to make their home in tall grass. If I didn't meet him there, he would have tried to fine me 10 million monies. Not that he actually thinks I have that kind of monies. It's just something he says.

When I arrived at Route 201, Tariun was waiting for me, plotting a way to get to Sandgem Town. The path to the East was overgrown with tall grass, just like Mom had said. Tariun had the "brilliant" idea that if we just dash through the tall grass that we could make it without running into trouble. Just then, Prof. Rowan showed up with his assistant Dawn. After finding out just how enthusiastic we were about Pokémon, he offered up some of his very own to get us started. This seemed to upset his assistant a little, but he gave them to us nonetheless.

There were three to choose from, and Tariun let me choose first. That was pretty big of him; then again, his plan probably would have gotten mauled by wild Pokémon, so I'm would think that makes us squarsies. I chose Chimchar, a fire-type, and Tariun grabbed Piplup a water-type. Third remaining Pokémon was Turtwig, a grass-type. It went with Dawn and the Prof. as they headed off to Sandgem Town.

Tariun was so excited, in an absentminded sort of way. We finally had Pokémon! What better way to celebrate than with our first battle. Quite frankly, he didn't stand a chance. After my victory, Chimchar leveled up. So many first all in one day! We headed home for the day, and I told my mom about all the excitement of them day. Then I decided I should log on to my PC and take all of it down. Mom said that I should go to Sandgem Town in the morning to than Prof. Rowan properly. That sounds like a good idea, after all, who knows what would have happened if he hadn't shown up when he did. Mom also gave me a pair of Running Shoes, so I should be able to get there in no time now. I think I'll play a few games on the Wii, and then head off to bed. Tomorrow begins a new adventure!
