Just outside of Sandgem town I ran into Dawn once again. She gave a quick training about how to capture wild Pokémon using our Pokéballs. Her Turtwig managed to defeat a Bidoof, and she was able to capture only after it had been weakened by tossing a Pokéballs at it, seems simple enough. She gave me 5 additional Pokéballs to start off with. I managed to catch both a Starly and a Shinx. This was the first time I had ever seen a Shinx, so it was a lucky encounter.
Along Route 202, there were also quite a few trainers who wanted to battle against me. I made a chart to track my battles with other trainers; I figured it would be easier to put in the Journal that way. It shows the trainer that I battled with, the Pokémon that they used during the battle, whether I won or lost that battle, and the amount of monies I won or lost as a result.
| Route 202: Trainer Battles | |||
| Youngster Tristan | Lvl. 5 Starly | FTW | ₱80 |
| Lass Natalie | Lvl. 5 Bidoof | FTW | ₱80 |
| Youngster | Lvl. 5 Burmy | FTW | ₱80 |
I may use something similar to this with future encounters with wild Pokémon as well. Of course the table will vary slightly because it wouldn’t have the same information.
I also found a potion in the tall grass, which I quickly stored in my rucksack. When all was said and done, Nape Ape gained another level, and is now sitting comfortably at level 9. He also learned additional attack: Taunt.
