A sandy town connected to the ocean…

When I arrived in Sandgem Town, I met Dawn again. She took me to Professor Rowan at his lab. I spoke to the Professor and he asked to see my Pokémon. He must have seen something he liked, because he asked to me to join him in gathering information about all the Pokémon from the Sinnoh region. Maybe it was because after a battle with another wild Starly, Chimchar went up to level 7! Chimchar also learned a new move, Ember. That brings him up to three attacks, and I can't wait to try it out in battle next time.

Prof. Rowan gave me a Pokédex, which will capture information on any Pokémon I happen to catch or encounter along the way. Upon request, I nicknamed my Chimchar. He is now known as Nape Ape. I based it on the fact that he is a fire-type Pokémon, and a member of the primate family. Even though he is not technically an ape, I think it sounds a lot better than Nape Chimp.

Prof. Rowan also gave me TM27 (Return), which I can use to train a Pokémon a special ability. TM stands for Technical Machine, and TMs can only be used one time.

After that, Dawn gave me a tour of the town. There are two basic buildings that I will encounter in every major town. The first is the Pokémon Center. It has an orange roof, and I can take my Pokémon there to heal them up if they are injured in battle. The first floor is a medical center. On the second floor they have the Pokémon Wireless Club. I was able to sign the back of my Trainer Card here as well. I am not sure what was on the lower lever. Apparently that area is under construction, and so it is off limits for the time being.

The second building is just as important, it is the local Pokémart. The Pokémart typically has lots of different things that I may need while exploring the Sinnoh region. I had some monies on me, so I picked up a few essentials: 5 Pokéballs, 3 Potions.

Since I was going away a long journey, Dawn suggested I make one last stop by my house to say farewell to my family. At least until I am able to come back to visit them. Sounds like a good idea.
